Real statistics relating to offences against children (as opposed to the sort of numbers generally gossiped about) are very difficult to obtain. A study carried out by Det Chief Insp Bob McLachlan, the head of Scotland Yard's paedophile unit in 2000, resulted in his "conservative estimate" that 0.5% (1 in 200) of the adult population are paedophiles. Although this estimate is alarming in itself, it shows that figures ranging from 1 in 9 to 1 in 4 people that have been mentioned in the media are likely to be entirely fictional.

Photography-related Guidelines have been issued by the Institute of Sport and Recreation Management

The Information Commissioner's Office have issued this comprehensive practical advice specifically relating to photographing children in schools. They have also issued this press release reminding schools and parents of the right to photograph school events.
