[In response to a letter from SceneThat canvassing views on photographers' rights]
Thank you for your letter.
Under this government, powers available under terrorism legislation are used for reasons entirely unrelated to those for which they were put on the statute book.
Inappropriate use of stop and search power is the surest way to lose public support and damage community relations.
Anti-terrorism powers must be used proportionately and only for terror-related purposes.
We will review the use of the Terrorism Act's Section 44, and the stop and search powers in it.
I have also passed your letter to Chris Grayling, the Shadow Secretary of State for Home Affairs.
Yours sincerely,

[Office of Dominic Grieve QC MP
Shadow Secretary of State for Justice]
