Police settle with photographer - Incident: Accrington 2009
Fri, 9 Dec 2011 17:00:00 GMT
On 19th December 2009, we reported that:
Amateur photographer Bob Patefield was questioned, intially under anti-terrorist legislation, and police later arrested him for refusing to provide his details. They claimed pictures he was taking in a Lancashire town were "suspicious" and constituted "antisocial behaviour".
Bob has just confirmed that police have settled, out of court, civil proceedings that he started 18 months ago. He said that Lancashire Police have now "seen sense and paid me damages".
Whilst we welcome Bob's victory and applaud his tenacity (both at the time and over the past two years) it is more than a shame that he has been persecuted for his photography.
